Stone County woman in custody after barricading herself in residence

A Stone County woman is in custody after officers were called to a residence on Oxley Road where she had barricaded herself inside.

Alexis Shey Fountain, 24, had apparently been in an argument with her grandmother and allegedly caused injury to another family member when he tried to take a knife away from her, according to Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds. That family member told authorities Fountain had apparently tried to kill herself earlier in the day. (The incident occurred Jan. 3.)

An officer who had dealings with the family in the past, investigator Brad Breeding, was able to enter the residence, and eventually get Fountain to surrender.

She is currently in custody in the Stone County Detention Center after being formally charged with two counts of second-degree domestic battering, and one count of aggravated assault on a family member. All counts are felonies. Fountain’s bond has been set at $25,000.
