Two accused of breaking into deceased woman’s residence

Two men have been charged in Stone County Circuit Court with three felonies after they apparently broke into a deceased woman’s residence and stole several items.

Jessie Lane Sears, 19, and Clayton Wade Stevens, 30, are accused of entering the residence of the late Nadine Gilley on Cedar Creek Road in the Round Mountain area of Stone County.

Game cameras had been installed on the property by a family member to help secure the residence.  The camera filmed two men breaking into the residence through the back door and taking items from the property.   Sheriff Lance Bonds said he put the images of the men on social media and received several tips from the public.

Officers went to the men’s known residences and found several items listed as stolen from the Gilley property.

Sears and Stevens are charged with residential burglary, breaking or entering, and theft of property.

Each man has been placed on a $20,000 bond.
