Independence County Sheriff’s deputies are working on a series of vehicle break-ins that have occurred over the past two weekends, according to Sheriff Shawn Stephens.

The vandals have been taking guns and credit/debit cards from vehicles in incidents reported from Batesville to Pleasant Plains, the sheriff noted. Property from two break-ins that occurred in the city of Batesville has been found at the rest area in Salado.

Deputies have been busy gathering video and getting the suspects identified, according to Stephens, and property that has been discovered is being returned to the owners of the particular vehicles.

Sheriff Stephens says if anyone has information regarding these break-ins to call the sheriff’s office at (870) 793-8838. All information will be kept confidential.

The sheriff also reminds residents to not leave valuables in their vehicles in plain sight and to always lock vehicles. Some of the vehicles in the above cases were not locked while others had side glass broken out to gain entry.
