The Independence County Republican Committee announced yesterday that filing for county and township offices will begin at noon on Feb. 22 and end at noon on March 1.
Candidates will file at the Independence County Courthouse. The party’s location will be in the first-floor hallway. A member of the local Republican Party will be present to accept candidate filing fees and provide appropriate forms. The filing period will be Feb. 22, 23, 28, and March 1.
On Feb. 22, 23, and 28, candidates can file for office between noon and 1 p.m. On March 1, the time will be from 11 a.m. until noon.
After filing with the county Republican Party, candidates must provide written evidence of filing fee payment and additional paperwork to the Independence County Clerk before noon on March 1.
The filing is to be a candidate in the preferential primary on May 22.
