The Fulton County Fair Association and the Salem Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Ozarks Sports & Outdoor Expo on March 24 at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Salem, Ark. Vendor space is available to rent. Both inside and outside spaces are available. Inside space will be in the 14,000 sq. ft. climate-controlled Salem Civic Center and outside space will be located around the civic center. Event officials encourage sports and outdoor related vendors to reserve space now to be a part of this regional event. Food vendors will be on site to provide food service throughout the day.
A full day of activities and competitions and seminars for youth and adults will be held beginning with the Fishing Derby at the Salem City Lake. Registration for the fishing derby starts at 8 a.m. The qualifying round for the 3-D Archery Shoot in the Walling Livestock Center on the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. An open Trap Shoot will be held at the Fulton County Trap Range at 9 a.m. followed by a school and Youth Shooting Club competition.
The Spring River Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will conduct a sanctioned turkey calling contest at 3 p.m. in the Civic Center. There will be competitions for youth and amateurs as well as the seasoned turkey caller.
Seminars will start at 10 a.m. in the Hickinbotham-Miller Exhibit Building on the Fairgrounds featuring Janet Carson, director of the Arkansas Master Gardener Program on Spring Flowering Bulbs and Butterfly Gardens and the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission will have a seminar on Cleaning and Cooking Trout followed by the U of A Cooperative Extension Service on Establishing and Maintaining Wildlife Plots.
The Arkansas Bowhunters Association and the Izard County Stickshooters and the will have a Hoverball Archery Game set up for the kids all day at the fairgrounds.
