The superintendent of the Batesville School District (BSD) says all BSD schools, including preschool, will be out Friday and Monday due to the flu.

Student absenteeism has been running between 450 to 500 students per day, but the real problem to overcome, according to BSD Superintendent Dr. Michael Hester, is the number of teachers out — now running over 20%.

BSD staff will be disinfecting all buildings tomorrow and this weekend, Dr. Hester said. He asks parents to: “Please help us out with this, and do not send students back to school who are still showing symptoms of illness.”

Hester also said for parents and students to check with their school’s website for their Alternative Method of Instruction assignments.

Batesville schools will be back in session on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
