Work on the new downtown branch for First Community Bank could begin soon, according to reps from Main Street Batesville. The branch will be located at Third and Main in a now-vacant building that coincidentally also housed a bank from 1953 to 1963.

Representatives from First Community Bank will work closely with the Batesville Historic District Commission to assure the building’s restoration is within the historical guidelines, according to a press release from the bank late last year that announced the project.

“We are extremely eager to offer another service center in historic downtown Batesville,” said Dale Cole, the bank’s chairman and chief executive officer, in the bank’s release.

“We love the vibe that downtown has going, so we want to incorporate some design elements that will invite customers to visit and maybe even enjoy a cup of coffee and some wi-fi time in addition to their banking needs. An ATM will also be onsite at this location.”
