The current rainfall records answer the question: Was February the wettest month on record? And the answer to that question is a resounding “Yes.”

A few areas of the state, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, had rainfall in February of over 18 inches. Of reporting stations, Mount Ida recorded just over 16 inches for the most reported.

In this area, there were a few reporting stations that had record rainfall.

At the Batesville Airport, 13.09 inches was recorded, topping the previous record of 8.3 inches in 1939.

The Lock & Dam Number 1 in Batesville recorded 12.86 inches, breaking a 1956 record.

The Batesville Stockyards, near Cord-Charlotte, recorded 10.21 inches of rainfall, almost an inch more than its previous record.

Newport reported 13.88 inches of February rainfall, almost 3 inches more than the previous record set in 1956.
