A 55-year-old Batesville man has been charged with breaking and entering and theft of property in Independence County Circuit Court after being caught on a security camera.
On the morning of March 9, Terry D. Smith was seen on security footage from Southern Towing in Southside attempting to unsuccessfully open a toolbox on a black Ford F-150. He was then observed filtering through a toolbox on a red dually truck where several tools were taken, court documents note.
Smith was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and theft of property — both felonies, as well as attempted breaking and entering which is a misdemeanor.
Smith was also charged as a habitual offender having previously been convicted of four or more felonies.
