news-background-1-3

An inmate at the Independence County Jail has been charged in Independence County Circuit Court with first-degree criminal mischief, a felony.  He is also being charged as a habitual offender having previously been convicted of four or more felonies.

The court record says that Dustin O. Chadwell, 18, of Floral Road in Independence County was the only inmate in Cell A-22 when one of two cell light fixtures was damaged.

Court documents say he was placed into the cell on March 28 and a routine cell check on March 29 found that one of the light fixtures in the cell had been damaged.  The cost to replace the one light fixture is $1,172.62. His bond has been set at $5,000.
