Batesville company awarded bids to resurface sections of state highways

A Batesville company has just received the bids on two of four resurfacing projects in White County.

Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded a contract to resurface over seven miles of U.S. Highway 167 between Velvet Ridge north of State Highway 87. The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved the bid for the improvements on the roadway in White and Jackson Counties, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDot) officials.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion on the $2,797,305.05 project is expected in mid-2018.

In addition, Atlas Asphalt was awarded $1,561,985.81 dollars contract to resurface seven miles of State Highway 5 between State Highway 31 and State Highway 36 in White County.

Delta Asphalt of Arkansas, out of Paragould, was awarded a $2,486,066.90 contract to resurface a little over seven miles of State Highway 367 between State Highway 36 and Bald Knob.

And, Rogers Group, Inc. of Nashville, Tenn., was awarded a $1,705,692.85 contract to resurface selected sections of U.S. Highways 64 and 67-B in Beebe.

The four resurfacing projects in White County total just over $8.5 million dollars.
