siren-7

An Izard County woman has been arrested and accused of first-degree murder by the Izard County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities say deputies were dispatched through a 911 call to the Gorby community near Calico Rock early Sunday morning, around 1 a.m. They were told a stabbing had occurred.

Deputies found Joseph Stefka, 29, of Horseshoe Bend with a wound to his chest that appeared to have been caused by a knife. Stefka was rushed by Vital Link ambulance to the Calico Rock Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased on arrival.

A Dolph, Ark., woman, Cydney Taylor, 27, was taken into custody at the scene and has now been charged with first-degree murder. She is currently in the Izard County Jail on a $200,000 bond while the case is still under investigation.

Two law enforcement agencies are working together on the ongoing investigation: the Izard County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police.
