newsbackground-1-5

A joint effort of the Independence County Sheriff’s Department and Arkansas State Probation and Parole Officers verified 35 residences out of 56 during a sex offender compliance check.  Twenty-one could not be verified at the time they were checked.

During the compliance check, officers issued one citation, served four warrants, made one arrest unrelated to the compliance check, and recovered a stolen boat out of Baxter County, according to Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens.

The sheriff said 18 officers took part in the checks which he characterized as a “good information gathering effort.”
