Two Independence County men have recently been charged in circuit court.

Timothy Wade Bardis, 46, is in the county jail awaiting a court appearance on two counts of terroristic threatening, aggravated assault on a household member, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.

The charges, according to the court documents, stem from an altercation in which his female victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered at his hands. (For more info on this incident, click here.)

In another Independence County Circuit Court case, Justan Michael Taylor, 29, was charged with a felony and two misdemeanors following a “home visit” conducted by  parole officers.

A search of the premises on McGuire Street in Desha found a controlled substance, namely marijuana, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia. A search of a dresser also turned up a .22-caliber pistol in the top drawer.  It was loaded and had a round in the chamber.  It is a felony for a previously convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm.

Taylor told authorities the gun belonged to his girlfriend, and is normally kept in her vehicle. He said she took it out and put it in the dresser when they went grocery shopping.

Taylor is charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia — a felony and two misdemeanors.  Taylor’s bond was set at $5,000.
