Mable Dean “Deannie” Stoner Swanson

Mable Dean “Deannie” Stoner Swanson, resident of McCrory, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, May 4, 2018 from her residence at the age of 88.  She was born in Oak Forest, Arkansas on August 29, 1929 the daughter of the late Edgar and Lizzie Ward Stoner.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 8th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral services  being held on Wednesday, May 9th beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald Swanson, officiating.  Interment will be in Fakes Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Swanson married Mr. J. T. Swanson, Sr. on September 28, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2012.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed yard work, quilting for her family and canning from her garden.  Mrs. Swanson was an amazing cook and was known for her biscuits and gravy by her grandchildren and her special recipe of chicken and dressing.  When she wasn’t cooking you would find her at Kennon’s in Fair Oaks enjoying their fish baskets, burgers and most of all their taco salads.   Her greatest enjoyment was reading the Bible and when she got to where she couldn’t read her family purchased a talking Bible so she could listen and rock in her favorite rocking chair.

Mrs. Swanson is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lizzie Stoner, her husband, J. T. Swanson, Sr., one son, Ronald Swanson, one brother, Alvis Stoner, three sisters, Anna Cariker, Elwanda Pennington, Imogene Mauldin and a granddaughter, Crystal Swanson.

Mrs. Swanson is survived by two sons, James T. Swanson, Jr. and wife Lena of Searcy, Arkansas, David Leon Swanson of Searcy, Arkansas, one daughter, Phyllis Manaois and husband Roger of Hartford, Kentucky, two sisters, Sue Tiner of Beebe, Arkansas, Rose Wakefoose and husband Harry of Jonesboro, Arkansas, her sister-in-law, Shirley Stoner of McCrory, Arkansas, fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be John Freeman, Dan Gassner, David Gassner, Gaylon Gibbs, Joseph Swanson and Robert Swanson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Swanson and Frank Swanson.
