An esteemed gospel performer is coming to Lyon College to host and teach at the college’s Gospel Choir Conference

Lyon College will host its annual Gospel Choir Conference on Friday, June 8. The conference will feature small study sessions where attendees can learn from college choir directors from across the state. And in the afternoon, 12-time Grammy Award winner Kirk Franklin will teach attendees of the conference.

Later that evening, Franklin will host the conference’s concert, giving feedback to performing conference choirs and singers. The Lyon College Gospel Choir, The Anointed Ones, and conference attendees will perform at this closing concert, which will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Eugene Sloan Auditorium of the Brown Chapel-Fine Arts Building. Anyone who wishes to attend may purchase tickets at the door for $10.

“We are so excited to have Kirk Franklin coming to Lyon College,” says Markeita Williams, director of the Lyon College Gospel Choir. “This is an opportunity of a lifetime. You can’t get any better than this.”
