A shooting incident in the 7 a.m. hour this morning in Newark has left one person dead.
Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said his deputies were called to Newark this morning concerning the shooting.
Stephens says there is a suspect in the case which is under investigation. The sheriff says some of his staff is working on the notification of the next of kin.
The victim was a male, and the suspect is a male, as well.
Stephens says the department will send a media release this afternoon with more information.
