Two Stone County men have been charged in a May 16 incident in which one truck was vandalized and another burned.

The court information said 20-year-old Brandon Lee Vanvleet, drove a friend, 20-year-old Daniel Trent Younger, to his father’s residence to feed the dogs while his father was out of town.

Vanvleet told authorities that Younger, whom Vanvleet said had been drinking, got mad when he couldn’t find the dog food, grabbed a hammer from the residence, and began striking, scratching and destroying the black Silverado pickup truck parked at the residence. Vanvleet said Younger also kicked the vehicle several times. Vanvleet said he told Younger to stop several times. Vanvleet said in the court record that once the vandalizing of the Silverado pickup was done, Younger grabbed a spray bottle filled with gasoline, walked to a white pickup truck, and sprayed the gas on the front seat and lit the gasoline, setting the truck on fire. Apparently, Younger then ran to the truck Vanvleet was sitting in, and Vanvleet drove off.

Vanvleet said apparently Younger was upset with his father for not supporting him with his current living arrangements and the birth of his child.

The court document said when the investigator asked Vanvleet why he did not report the incident, he stated that they did not think they would be caught.

Both Younger and Vanvleet have been charged with criminal mischief in the first degree and arson. Both men have been placed on $15,000 bonds.
