In the process of serving an absconder warrant, a Sharp County man was arrested, and when his house was searched, illegal drugs were found.
The Sharp County Sheriff’s Department, a special response team from Arkansas Community Corrections, and the 3rd Judicial District Drug Task Force served the warrant on Claxton Road South of Ash Flat and found the absconder, Tracy Smith, hiding in the residence.
A search of the house found a plastic baggie of a crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia items.
Fifteen Marijuana plants were found growing in pots behind the residence
Sheriff Mark Counts said, in a post-Miranda interview, Smith said the marijuana, meth, and drug paraphernalia were his. Smith was placed in jail to await the filing of formal charges which will be manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia — all felonies.
