A Sulphur Rock woman has been charged in Independence Circuit Court with felony theft of property, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

The court information says this past Tuesday, Aug. 21, Chelsea Johnson was working the service desk at Walmart around 8:20 p.m. Johnson was assisting a customer, later identified as 31-year-old Brandy Ann Ingram, and said Ingram was returning an item to the customer service desk.

Johnson said, as she was assisting Ingram, she turned her bank of Ingram, and that was when Ingram took her Johnson’s phone from the counter, concealed it, and later left the store with it in her possession.

It was an Apple iPhone 6S Plus, valued at $700. Johnson also said the case that was on the cellular telephone contained her debit card.

Lt. Kyle Williford of the Batesville Police Department said that information was obtained by review of the video surveillance footage from Walmart. He said the video showed Ingram taking possession of Johnson’s phone when she turned her back to Ingram.

Ingram is charged with felony theft of property and one count of misdemeanor theft of property. Ingram’s bond was set at $2,500.
