An Independence County man was arrested and charged during a home visit by probation and parole agents.

Court documents say on Friday, Sept. 7,  agent Jeremy Canard was assisting agent Brian Gould on the home visit with a parolee, 39-year-old Kevin George White. During the course of the visit, Canard found in a bedroom dresser drawer a small baggie containing a crystal-like substance, which later tested positive as methamphetamine.

Canard also found a set of digital scales, a syringe, several small baggies, and a clear plastic bottle with tubing coming out of the lid of the bottle which could be described as a mechanism used to smoke dope.

White was taken to jail and charged with: possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with the purpose to deliver; possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to ingest a controlled substance into the human body; and possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to manufacture methamphetamine.

In addition, White is being charged as a habitual offender, having been previously convicted of more than four felonies.

White is currently in jail under a $10,000 bond.
