(UPDATE: LISTEN to comments from event organizers) Batesville Police, Independence County Sheriff’s Dept. to hold women’s self-defense class

Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill and Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens have announced plans for a “Self-Defense Class for Women,” to be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Batesville Community Center, 1420 20th St. The event begins at 6 p.m.

The free event is being offered through the Batesville Police Department Community Relations Team and is geared to giving women the information needed to “…learn how to avoid becoming a victim,” according to a press release announcing the class.
