Joe Stanley, of Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects and the architect on the Independence County Library renovation project, recently released the final construction cost figures for the project.

The Independence County Quorum Court approved the sum of $2,659,872 as the budgeted amount for the construction. Actual costs for construction are $2,627,286 which is $32,586 less than the amount budgeted.

Bill Walmsley, the library’s chairman of the board, expressed the pleasure of the board, director, and the staff with the result.

“Bringing a public project in under budget and ahead of schedule is a very difficult task today,” Walmsley said in a release announcing the final cost figures.

“It would not have been possible without the work and cooperation of Judge (Robert) Griffin, the quorum court and the dedicated board of directors. Additionally, Joe and Laura Stanley, our architects, and Clark Construction, our construction manager, were instrumental in making this happen.”
