Batesville man arrested in ATV thefts

news-background-1-33

A Batesville man was arrested earlier this week in a case that involved the theft of two four-wheelers. The all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were taken from the Old South Flea Market and were the property of Jeffrey Wolford.

Court info reports Independence County Sheriff Deputies were quickly on the incident and Det. Michael Moody, along with Chief Dep. Aaron Moody and narcotics investigator, Chris Toland, obtained information that led them to Dry Run Circle where one of the four-wheelers was found parked behind a residence. The owner of the residence told authorities that a cousin had the ATV dropped off in the backyard by Jim Gaither.

The court documents went on to say deputies went back to the flea market where they met James Marvin Gaither who was pulling a trailer with his truck. On the trailer was the other ATV that had been stolen. While being questioned, Gaither said he heard the sheriff’s department was looking for the ATVs. He said he had taken them, so he brought the other one back to the flea market.

Gaither has been charged in Independence County Circuit Court with one count of felony theft of property. His bond was set at $2,500.
