A 26-year-old woman is behind bars in Stone County on one count of first-degree sexual assault in an incident involving a child.

Authorities were called Sunday, Dec. 30, to take a report of a complaint that a 6-year-old child victim had been touched inappropriately by a woman identified as Rose Ann Lynch at a Mountain View residence, according to the affidavit of probable cause for arrest.

In an interview with Arkansas Crimes Against Children Investigator McKenzie Jackson on Monday, Dec. 31, the child disclosed Lynch had touched the child’s “private area with her hand” while the child was taking a bath, the affidavit states.

During a post-Miranda interview with Jackson, Lynch “stated to Investigator Jackson she had touched the victim in the ‘private area’ because she (Lynch) was curious,” according to the affidavit.

In an interview with Mountain View Police Chief Bobby Day, Lynch said the child was at her home during the weekend of Friday, Dec. 28 through Sunday, Dec. 30. Lynch stated she was the live-in girlfriend of the 6-year-old’s mother, according to the affidavit. Throughout interviews, investigators determined Lynch was in the home as a “co-parent” and “assisted in parenting tasks involving the victim.”

Lynch is currently in the Stone County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond.
