UPDATE, 01/02/2019: The suspect has been taken into custody without incident, according to the Jonesboro Police Department.
One person is dead after an afternoon shooting today in Jonesboro, and police say the suspect has been identified.
Around 1:30 p.m., officers of the Jonesboro Police Department were called to 1120 W. Huntington in reference to a shooting, according to a press release. When the officers arrived, they rendered medical aid to the victim. The victim was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital and has since succumbed to the gunshot wounds
Information gathered at the scene has led to an arrest warrant be issued. The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Markus Gentry, 29 of Blytheville, according to the release.
Detectives are still actively following leads. Anyone with information with where the suspect is or may be is encouraged to call (870) 935-7867 Crime Stoppers to give an anonymous tip.
