Under the apparent influence of drugs, a male subject is charged in Stone County Circuit Court with 10 violations of the law.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

It was not a good Christmas Eve for 38-year-old Charles Lee Smith who was pulled over on a traffic violation.  Police say he had been crossing back and forth over the highway centerline.

A search of Smith and his vehicle uncovered numerous illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Smith was taken into custody and taken to the Stone County jail.  He was later taken for medical attention at a local hospital where a doctor said Smith would need an MRI to confirm what Smith described as a possible “flare up” of his Multiple Sclerosis.  The doctor noted that the local hospital did not have the equipment so the MRI would have to be done somewhere else.

The district attorney’s office has charged Smith in Circuit Court with 10 violations of the law, four felonies and six misdemeanors. Nine of the charges were drug-related, including possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
