Balanced attack helps Scots to 82-62 win

basketball-7

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The Lyon College men’s basketball team ran its winning streak to three games with an 82-62 road with over Lindenwood-Belleville (LUB) on Monday night in American Midwest Conference (AMC) action. Six Scots scored in double figures, led by Ray Price’s game-high 15 points. The Scots improved to 11-6 (6-4 AMC), while LUB sank to 2-15 (2-8 AMC).

The beginning stages of the game featured Lyon going on an early run as Blake Bradshaw opened up the scoring before Price added five straight points to give the Scots a 7-2 advantage in the first three minutes. After a bucket by Antanas Krimelis put the Scots up 9-2, LUB answered back with a run of its own. The Lynx pulled back within two at 10-8, only to see the Scots pull away once again. Price opened up the run that was capped off by a jumper by Brandon England that pushed the Scots ahead by 10 at 24-14 with just under nine minutes left in the half. The Scots had an answer for every LUB score and took a 37-29 lead into the locker room.

Bradshaw once again opened things up for the Scots in the second half with a pair of quick scores as Lyon extended its lead to 15 at 47-32 after another bucket by Price. The Lynx cut the deficit to single-digits momentarily, before the Scots put their foot on the gas and took their largest lead of the game at 82-55 on a jumper by Eric Koludrovic. The Lynx added six more points late, but it was too little too late as the game was already out of reach.

Eric Moses, Faris Verlasevic and Krimelis finished with 12 points each, while Emir Sabic and England chipped in 10 points apiece. Rodarius Mitchell and Jahkeal Samuel led the Lynx with 14 points each.

The Scots will return home and host Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Becknell Gymnasium.
