The third and final reading of an ordinance to amend the residential curbside waste pickup ordinance leads the Batesville City Council agenda for its Jan. 22 meeting.

The ordinance amends and adds rules and regulations for city residents to follow when putting out their trash for curbside pickup. (For more information on the ordinance, click here.)

Under new business, the aldermen will hear a report from the salary committee and then consider an ordinance to establish new salaries for elected officials. The new ordinance provides for salary increases for three elected officials: mayor, city clerk, and city attorney.

The mayor’s salary would increase to $75,000, the city clerk’s salary would increase to $58,000, and the city attorney’s salary would increase to $35,000. The city attorney is a part-time position.

Comment periods for citizens, the mayor, and council members are also part of the agenda.

The council meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Batesville Municipal Building at 500 E. Main St. in downtown Batesville.

Council meetings are always open to the public.
