The suspect in a motor vehicle theft from a Newark residence on Saturday, Feb. 9, was taken into custody later that day in Newport, according to authorities.

Newport Police informed Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens that Ian Matthew Fuller, 19, was in their custody, and he was taking them to where the vehicle was located. It was in the possession of Reynolds Wrecker Service in Newport.

Earlier in the day, the vehicle had been taken from the residence of David Lloyd. Lloyd said he was outside near his neighbor’s residence when he saw Fuller leaving in his vehicle, according to officials.

Lloyd told authorities that Fuller had been living with him, but did not have permission to drive the vehicle.

After Stephens put out a BOLO (Be On the LookOut) on the vehicle, Newport Police called him about Fuller being in their custody.

Fuller was charged this morning in Independence County Circuit Court with theft of a motor vehicle, a Class C felony.

Judge Don McSpadden has set bail at $10,000.
