Southside Baseball falls short against Brookland

baseball

Two outs in the seventh and bases loaded, a close play at first ended the Southerners rally as they fall 7-4 to the Brookland Bearcats on March 11.

The Southerners defense struggled early giving up 6 unearned runs on 4 errors, as Braden Jones went 7 inning, giving up 7 hits and striking out 7 with only 1 earned run. Cole Langston and Bo Trucks each had 2 hits. Braden Jones, Gage Wood, and Jared Ganus had 1 hit each for the Southerners.

Coach McCarville said, “We struggled early in all 3 phases of the game. We got things rolling late to give us a chance, it was just too little too late.”

The Southerners fall to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play and will take on Highland, this evening at Southside, weather permitting.
