A 25-year-old woman landed behind bars after allegedly attacking a couple who had confronted her for inappropriate language in the presence of children, according to documents from Independence County Circuit Court.

Marcella Nichole Romack was at a Newark residence Wednesday, March 13, when Amanda Spangler and Spangler’s husband, Donald Houser, spoke with Romack about her use of language during an ‘inappropriate telephone conversation’ Romack was having in front of children at the home, according to court documents.

The affidavit of probable cause for arrest notes Romack then became angry and confrontational, apparently coming at and physically attacking Spangler until Houser intervened. The affidavit noted Houser was struck in the head by Romack as he tried to restrain her.

Spangler stated in the affidavit at one point Romack then lunged at her with a knife from the kitchen until Houser again restrained Romack. Spangler then called 911, and after an investigation by authorities, Romack was taken into custody.

Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hance has charged Romack as a habitual offender with aggravated assault, a Class D felony. Judge Chaney Taylor has placed Romack on a $25,000 bond.
