Independence County man sentenced in circuit court for sexual assault

An Independence County man was recently sentenced in circuit court for sexual assault of a minor.  

Michael Ray Johnson, 45, pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

The case originated in 2017 and was investigated by the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.  

The case was prosecuted by 16th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hance and Deputy Prosecutor Kellye Barber and tried before Judge Tim Weaver.
