Batesville Police say an arrest warrant has been issued for a former employee of the Humane Society of Independence County after it was robbed on April 24.

Officer Amber Branscum said a witness saw on video camera footage that the former employee went to the back of the shelter and took four 50 pound bags of dog food and two 50 pound bags of cat food, put them in a vehicle, and drove away.

Police say charges will be filed against the former employee in district court as a misdemeanor since the value of the stolen property did not rise to the $1,000 minimum of a felony charge.
