Charles Edgar Jones passes; minister, auctioneer was 82

Charles Edgar Jones, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

Jones, born to Edgar Ernest and Elizabeth Ivaughn (Stehpans) Jones in Desha on Oct. 7, 1936, is described in his obituary as a minister who “loved to travel and watch sports. He was also an auctioneer and a great salesman.”

He is survived by three sons, Frank Edgar Jones (Brandy) of Southside, Charles Voda Jones (Margie) of Concord, Timothy Jason Jones of Sarasota, Fla.; one daughter, Ginger Vaughan Patterson of Desha; five grandchildren, Kayla Patterson Reeves, Whitley Vaughan Patterson, Frankie Elizabeth Jones, Ross Edgar Jones, Mary Isabella Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian Hazel Reeves and Vivian June Reeves.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Tammy Jones; twin sister and twin brother, Naomi Jean Jones and Norman D. Jones.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 22 at Desha Baptist Church, 2655 Heber Springs Rd., at 2 p.m., with Dan Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Alderbrook Cemetery.

A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Roller-Crouch in Batesville.
