A Pleasant Plains man, speeding past a sheriff’s deputy patrolling the area, ended up being charged with a felony.
The incident started when Deputy Chris Martin of the Independence County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a 2018 Chevy Malibu driven by Timothy Roberson, 36.
Roberson was found to be driving on a suspended license. A vehicle check was conducting after Roberson told Martin there was a handgun in the car.
Roberson was taken into custody with a bond set at $10,000.
Roberson is a previously convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a certain person. Authorities are requesting he be charged as a habitual offender due to his history of previous felony convictions.
