Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said a man involved in a violent domestic disturbance Thursday night at Newark fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Sheriff Stephens said the female involved in the incident went to the hospital emergency room for treatment of her injuries.
The sheriff said the incident is still under investigation for charges to be filed.
