Two ribbon cuttings were held today at a historic downtown Batesville building. Built in the early 1900s, the building at 187 E. Main St. that used to house the Maxfield General Store, the Sterling Department Store, and in later years, a furniture store, is now the new home of a hotel, as well as a clothing boutique and salon.

The front portion of the building will house the new location for Main Attire and Salon, and the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the business’ move with a ribbon cutting this morning.

The building is also the home of the new downtown hotel, The Royal on Main, and the chamber also celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting today, as well.
