Domestic violence and counterfeiting took a considerable amount of time for Independence County law enforcement over the weekend, according to a release from Sheriff Shawn Stephens.

Stephens said his department investigated five domestic violence cases, with one being a felony charge. He said arrests were made in two of the domestics with the other three being investigated for possible charges.

The sheriff also reported that counterfeit money turned up at the Dollar General in Pleasant Plains. He said that case will be thoroughly investigated, noting that “funny” money is not welcome nor will it be tolerated in Independence County.
