Local author publishes book, ‘Rachel’s Raft’

Local author Rachel Kelley (pictured) visited the White River Now family of radio stations this week to talk about a book she wrote entitled, “Rachel’s Raft.” Kelley wrote it while living in Mountain View. She now lives in Batesville with her husband and six children.

After years of financial struggles and set-backs, Rachel Kelley began praying for a raft –something that would save her and her family from the storms of circumstances they were enduring, reads the book’s synopsis. One night as she watched the news, Rachel observed the Costa Concordia being resurrected off the coast of Italy. The Lord whispered to Rachel’s heart and said He was going to pull her up out of the water, too. Months later, the Kelley family moved to a quaint tourist town in Arkansas where Rachel began to write Rachel’s Raft. A possible job offer led the Kelleys to a small church in that town where, unbeknownst to Rachel, John Grisham’s family resided. Miracles erupted like a fireworks show–many of them surrounding the author himself. So much so, Rachel knew the Lord wanted her to place Rachel’s Raft in Grisham’s hands. Throughout her journey of obedience, Rachel witnessed the Lord work in ways she’d only read about. Rachel’s Raft is a story of hope, miracles, and a God who is actively and powerfully at work today.
