Head-on collision near top of Salado Mountain claims one life; two injured

Arkansas State Police say one person was killed and two injured in a head-on collision Sunday just before 3 p.m. on Highway 167, north of Pleasant Plains on Salado Mountain.

In his Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary Report, State Police Cpl. Jeremy Hughes said a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Kristi M. Spurlin, 39, of Batesville, crossed the center line and collided with a 2011 GMC pickup, driven by Robert L. Leonard, 45, of Batesville.

Spurlin died at the scene.

Leonard and his wife, Kelly L. Leonard, 35, were injured. Kelly Leonard was flown to a Little Rock hospital, and Rob Leonard was taken by ambulance to the White River Medical Center.

Hughes said the weather was clear and the road condition was dry at the time of the accident.
