Obituary: Jernice C. Nothern

Jernice C. Nothern, 89, of Sulphur Rock passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2019.

She was born on June 29, 1930 in Batesville, Arkansas to Henry Omer Caldwell and Lula Mae (Crawford) Caldwell.

Jernice was a member of the Sharp United Methodist Church and for many years volunteered with the Auxiliary at White River Medical Center. She loved watching sports on television especially baseball and basketball. Jernice had a real love for animals and enjoyed feeding her birds and squirrels all year long and loved to garden and watch her flowers bloom. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and making peanut brittle to give away to friends and family.

Survivors include her sisters, Martha Batson (Kendall) of Sulphur Rock, Lenora Carter of Sulphur Rock, Norma Rowe (Noel) of Batesville and Peggy Turner of Batesville; her niece, Angella Batson Hendricks and her children Keaton and Connor; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Nothern; brothers, Earl “Tink” Caldwell, RN “Mick” Caldwell and Billy Ray “Bill” Caldwell.

Pallbearers are Kendall Batson, Ricky Carter, Tim Turner, Randy Caldwell, Keaton Wheeler, and Connor Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Young and the Staff at Woodlawn Nursing Home.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home with John Mark Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday just prior to service.
