Charles Wayne Johnson, 85, of Newport departed this life Monday, Nov. 25, 2019. He was born July 1, 1934, to Belvie and Opal (Reynolds) Johnson and was of the Baptist Belief.
Mr. Johnson retired from Temple-Inland in 1999; he enjoyed fishing, yard work, vegetable gardening, riding bicycles, driving back roads, and loved his pet; Smokey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Johnson; parents; and brother, Conway Johnson.
He is survived by three sons; Dwayne Johnson and wife Bonnie of Oak Hill, Virginia, David Johnson of West Memphis, Darryl Johnson and wife Sandra of Jonesboro, one daughter; Diana Roberson and husband Jerry of Oil Trough, ten grandchildren; Crystal Cathey, Tony Roberson, James Roberson, Brandon Johnson, Bethany Johnson, Preston Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Dillon Johnson, Bryson Johnson, and Donna Johnson, four great-grandchildren; Logan Cathey, Breeauna Cathey, Zachary Roberson, Riley Johnson; sisters; Vada Mize (Robert) of Mabelvale, Louise Jones (Leonard) of Cabot, and Clara McIntosh (David) of Oil Trough, and caregiver; Kim McCartney.
