Donnie L. Davis of Oil Trough, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at the age of 51. He was born Dec. 23, 1967, at Newport, the son of Vernon Gene and Ruth Ann (Sutterfield) Davis.
Donnie was a poultry and cattle farmer, owning and operating Double D Farms. He was a member of the Arkansas Cattleman’s Association, and Departee Creek Hunting Club. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to deer hunt. He enjoyed Greer’s Ferry Lake, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Russell Davis and Gary Davis. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Lisa (Bumpous) Davis of the home; one son, Kyle Matthews and wife, Lindsey, of Bradford; one daughter, Krystal Hogue and husband, Jason, of Benton; five grandchildren, Caroline, Brinley, Madallyn, Rhett, and Luke; his uncle, Larry Sutterfield of Bradford; his dog, Tootsie; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brown’s Chapel Memorial Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Tadpole Franks, Roger McDaniel, Bobby Carroll, Jeff Stites, Dennis Cossey, and Jessie Sutterfield. Honorary pallbearers are Jake Vanoven, Danny Hodge, Daniel Hodge, and Jimmy McDaniel. Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
