Obituary: Judy Kay Neely

Judy Kay Neely, 70, of Batesville, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born Jan. 29, 1949, to the late Searcy and Lillie (McCoy) McCurn.

She was of the Christian faith and served the Lord as a member at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville. Judy loved to fish, sing, cook, and travel, especially when it came to trips to Tunica, Miss. to the casinos. Judy also developed a joy later in life for scrolling Facebook and playing games on her tablet. She enjoyed setting around with her friends but more than anything she adored her family, especially her grandchildren.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Joe Glenn McCurn, Raymond McCurn, and Jimmy McCurn; one sister, Shirley Thompson; and one granddaughter, Stormie Neely. She is survived by her two sons, Bryson Neely and Manrecio Neely; two daughters, Sonya Rucker (Sherman) and Judith Rochelle Ford; one brother, Terry McCurn; one sister, Doreen Watkins; her beloved grandchildren: Terrence Ford (Jasmine), Sir Hughes, Alex Barnes, Jessica Rucker, Elijah Cannon, Max Rucker, Whitney Surrell (Angela), Kiana Bristow (Jordan), Addison Neely, Cabry Neely, Chaz Wells, Devin Neely, Jayden Neely, Elijah Neely, Dylan Chastain, and Haley Neely; eight great-grandchildren; and two special sister-in-laws, Helen Neely and Debra McCurn. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at White River Medical Center ICU in Batesville, St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, and Elite Home Health.

Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville. There will be a visitation Tuesday, Dece. 3, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel, and a memorial service (with repass to follow), Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at Friendship Missionary Baptist in Batesville at 1 p.m.
