The Batesville Police Department (BPD) is investigating two recently-reported thefts.

BPD Officer Jeffrey Tate said someone entered private property on North 4th Street sometime between Tuesday at 5 p.m. and this morning at 7:45 p.m. and took a trailer.

The missing trailer is a black 16-foot tandem axle trailer with an electric tongue jack, winch, and wooden floors, according to a BPD media release. Tate said the theft is now under investigation.

In another incident, BPD Officer Ryan Peace responded to a residential burglary on Dec. 3 at the College Hill Apartments. Apparently, someone entered the apartment of a resident and took several bottles of prescription insulin and a phone. A suspect was named, and the case is under investigation.

And BPD Investigator Fred Friar reminds everyone to remove all valuable items from vehicles when parked. Friar noted a history of increased break-ins, particularly during the holiday season.

He also noted an increase in traffic during the holidays, so drivers need to be mindful of that while driving in the Batesville city limits, or anywhere else for that matter.
