Obituary: Matt Brannon

Matt Brannon, 62, of Newport passed away Wednesday, at his home. Brannon was born Feb. 21, 1957, to Pete and Jewel (Drinkard) Brannon in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was of the Baptist belief and loved to fish, arrowhead hunt, play darts, trap, play the guitar, and loved being a grandfather. He was a welder and a master mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother; Bertha Brannon, one brother; Tommy Brannon, and sister; Sherry Perry.

Brannon is survived by one son; Matt Brannon Jr. of Searcy, two daughters; Mandy Duncan and husband Gary (Bubba) of McRae, Leslie King of Newport, former wife and mother of his children; Debbie Brannon, brother; Mitchell Thomas Brannon and wife Barbara of Bradford, sister; Myrna Walls of Newport, seven grandchildren: Logan Claborne of Ft. Smith, Payton Duncan of McRae, Maddie King of Newport, Jayda King of Newport, Jenna King of Newport, Cash Smith of Newport, and Ava Smith of Newport, his employer, and special friends; Garland Walker and wife Naomi of Newport, his service dog, and best friend; Mutley Brannon, and special children: Jami Mendenhall, Valerie Cates, Shelley Queen, and Tony Long.

A memorial service will be held at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel on
