Obituary: Temetrice Qualls

Temetrice “Geechie” Qualls of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, at the age of 50. She was born March 30, 1969, in Newport, the daughter of Rudean Qualls and Mary Ellen Ford.

Qualls was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Diaz. She was always well put together, spending time with her makeup, nails, and her eyelashes. She was a people person, who was very friendly to all people, known by her “What’s Up, Dawg?”. Qualls loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them, especially fish. She made sure everyone was fed. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Brian Qualls.

Qualls is survived by two daughters, Audrey Kiana Qualls of Dallas, Texas, and Ocelee Mariam Qualls of Searcy, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Savion Qualls, Xavion Floyd, Janya Thomas, and Airrion Floyd; five brothers, Leroy Brown of Batesville, Deangelo Qualls of Newport, Ken Brown of Jonesboro, Rudean Qualls, Jr., of Little Rock, and Adrian Roddy of Conway; six sisters, Tammy Ford of Conway, Kena Myni Ford of Jonesboro, Ronda Ford of Nashville, Tennessee, Naydean Qualls of Conway, Cassie Scarlett of Hemet, California, and Monique Freeney of Charlotte, North Carolina; her special friend and confidant, Will Crite and their dog, “Tiger”; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, beginning at noon. Funeral services will follow at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Gum Grove Cemetery.

Her brothers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are her first cousins.
