Authorities have identified the body discovered early Saturday morning by hunters at the entrance of the Jamestown Wildlife Management Area.

According to a release this morning from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Shawn Stephens says the body has been identified as Deanna M. Zahn, 47, of Batesville.

Stephens told White River Now the cause of death is still unknown, and his office is awaiting the results of toxicology testing. Those results should be available within a few days, he said.

Stephens said during the investigation following the discovery of Zahn’s body, he was informed family members had been looking for her. A post on social media from the family indicated Zahn had been missing since the night after Christmas.

Authorities noted it had been very foggy in the area were Zahn was found, and it would have been easy for a person to have lost their way.
