Obituary: Jean Mary Lee Caldwell Carnett

Jean Mary Lee Caldwell Carnett, 90 of Batesville left this world on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020.

She was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Batesville, Arkansas to Ollie Otis and Alma Raye Gaskill Caldwell.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville.  She was a kind and loving person who loved spending time with her family.  She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening, especially in her flower beds.  She loved baking and doing activities with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Hershell Woodson Carnett; four brothers, Otis Caldwell, James Caldwell, Don Caldwell and Roger Dale “Joe” Caldwell and four sisters, Lucille Delberto, Georgia Harris, Enomia Seuberth and Audrey Cossey.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Williams of Batesville and Connie Creech of Centerton; three brothers, Gerry Vaughn Caldwell (Sharin) of Cherokee Village; Bernard Caldwell (Janice) of  Garden City, Kansas and Mack Caldwell of Batesville; three sisters, Thelma Essmeyer of Pfeiffer, Emma Jay Jones of St. Louis, Missouri and Bobbie Sutton of Cave City; three grandchildren, Lana Shivers (Dale) of Hot Springs Village, Erin Coetzee (Michael)  of Bentonville and Megan Creech of Centerton; two great-grandchildren, Henry Coetzee and Easton Coetzee of Bentonville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Scott Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lee’s Chapel Cemetery near Moorefield with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Michael Coetzee, Dale Shivers, Justin Thompson, Tim Thompson, Daniel Miller, and Frankie Caldwell.
